Hermit Shell Home

Probably the biggest inspiration for writing this poem was a friend of mine, who shall remain anonymous, basically gave me a well-needed kick in the pants, about a letter I never wrote that she took as me asking for pity.

I havn't failed. You have. Do not continure to blame your trobles on others. It is you that is in the driver seat of your life. Take it by the wheel! I understand your life may "suck" and as probably "sucked" since highschool, and I've got news, it doesn't get better. Your life will continue to "suck" if you choose to play the victim in your own life. Get out there! Join the paper. Get a job!!!!! ooo. Get. A. JOB!!!! You meet so many cool people that way, and the prize is that you get paid to do so. Do not blame anything on anyone except for yourself because I will not take pity.
Quit being afriad and go out there!

Those words really sunk in. And they haven't left yet. Which is a very, very good thing.

Like all my other poems, they were inspired by songs I have been listening to, and this one's no different.

"Lovers in Japan" - Coldplay
"Let Go" - Frou Frou
"Lost!" - Coldplay
"Beautiful Day" - U2
"Smile" - Weezer
"Your Heart Is An Empty Room" - Death Cab For Cutie
"Caring Is Creepy" - The Shins

Hey!
You there
Hiding in your hermit shell home
Why are you living in an empty hole?
Why are you living like you're all alone>

Your time to shine
Is coming soon, my son!

It's time for you to fly
Into the warm arms of the sun.

Hey!
You there
There's so much to life for today
Quit retreating into melancholy and despair
Why piss it all away from more rainy days?

Your time to shine
Is coming soon, my son!

It's time for you to fly
Into the warm arms of the sun

Hey!
You there
Get up, get out, and take a look round
You say your lost, we're all missing as well
Jump right in, and you'll find your own meaning of being found

Your time to shine
Is coming soon, my son!

It's your time to fly
Into the warm arms of the sun

You there
Hiding in your hermit shell home
Please come out of that empty hole
You don't have to chose to live like your alone.
