Hillary Clinton has just lost all of my respect

Earlier today I asked senator Clinton the following: Please, Senator Clinton, return to the woman that I used to know and admire.
Just two hours later, she had the nerve to say some stupid shit like this.

"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it."

So this is her justification as to why she should be the nominee: Barack Obama could be assassinated, the same way Robert Kennedy was assasinated back in June of '68.
Wow.
Never mind that the statement was incredibly crass and offensive (especially when the Kennedys are going through a trying time with Edward Kennedy having a brain tumor), but the fact that she could actually stoop this low to make a case to the superdelegates to become the Democratic Party's nominee is nothing short of appalling.
This goes way past the notion that 'It's just politics as usual.'
These are the kind of comments that no politician running for public office should ever make during a campaign.
Whatever respect I had for the New York senator is now completely gone. Mrs. Clinton is no longer the strong, inspiring female politician I had come to admire, and I will no longer support her in whatever action she decides to take for herself in the future. She had her chance of at least showing some class thought the remainder of the nomination process, but I've had about all I can take from her.
Mrs. Clinton, it is time for you to put aside you pride and step down from the Democratic campaign. You have embarrassed the party, and yourself, for long enough.
Update: Here's Keith Olbermann and his Special Comment on her remarks.

Is this Hillary's Endgame?

Remember when I said in this week's Random Questions about how hard it has become to figure out what she wants and why she is still running for president? Well, R.J. Eskow and Guy T. Saperstein of the Huffington Post unleash another motive of the Junior Senator from New York - one that could wind up destroying the Democratic Party.

From Saperstein's article:

Harold Ickes, one of Hillary's representatives on the Rules Committee who voted for the rule barring counting the Michigan and Florida votes, and Hillary's chief negotiator of this issue, was asked recently on one of the Sunday morning political talk shows, "You voted for the Rules Committee decision, but now you are complaining about it. What has changed?" Ickes replied, "What has changed is that now we are behind." So, there it is -- there is not an ounce of principle in the Clinton position. When they thought they were ahead in the presidential race, they supported the rule, but now that they are behind, they don't like it. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the rest of us could act like the Clintons and support rules when they favor us and ignore them when they don't?

Two days ago, Hillary hyperventilated on this topic, comparing enforcement of party rules -- rules she earlier had agreed to -- to the civil rights and suffragette movements, Zimbabwe and Florida 2000, as though enforcing a reasonable party rule was comparable to 300 years of slavery, the disenfranchisement of racial minorities and women from voting for hundreds of years, the unprecedented action of a conservative Supreme Court and the tyrannical actions of an African dictator. The Clintons are desperate; they need boundaries.

As this nomination drags on, I have seen the another light of Clinton - and to some extent, the Clinton legacy itself - one that has no shame in resorting to Karl Rove tactics in order to win or to gain power. It saddens and embarrasses me that the the Senator and Former First Lady who made a name for herself for taking on the right-wing media and for championing for universal health care in the 90s is now stooping to new, sleazier levels, in order to keep her hopes alive in this campaign.

Mrs. Clinton: you are, day, by day, less ad less looking like the woman I, and my family, remembered. In it's place, you are revealing yourself to another politician who will stomp on whoever, say whatever it takes, and side with any shady character, for the sake of advancing your own agenda, principles be damned. It is the same kind of politics that has disenfranchised and disillusioned many American voters from giving a damn to vote when we all know that we'll end up getting fucked over. Is this how you want to be remembered, Senator Clinton? As a woman who let her pride, her arrogance, and her ego get the best of her that she threatened to tear her own party in two? You are treading on dangerous waters, Mrs. Clinton; they are the kind of waters that, if you keep navigating in them, will destroy the party that built the Clinton legacy, and whatever chance you have running for any kind of public office in the near future, not to mention, you daughter's political future, should she decide to follow in your footsteps.

Please, Senator Clinton, return to the woman that I used to know and admire.

This is how pathetic the Obama/Hillary fights have gotten

A long time ago, there used to reasoned, lively discussions about which Democratic candidate should be: the former First Lady-turned Junior Senator from New York, Hillary Clinton, or the charismatic Junior Senator from Illinois, Barack Obama. Those who supported Hillary made the argument that she was the most experienced because of her 8 years at President Bill Clinton's side. Those who supported Obama made the argument that it was long past due to change the status quo in Washington, D.C., and the country needed to come together after 8 years of division from the current Administration. Both sides could agree, at one time though, that whoever won the party's nomination, would be a much better alternative than the same policies that have sent America into the rut it is currently in, thanks in large part to the George Bush Jr. and the Republican Party. There even used to be talk of brining the best of both worlds together to form an incredible dream team not seen since O.J.'s murder trial in the 90's: an Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama ticket.

That was two, maybe three months ago when all this good feeling was taking place.

Now-a-days, Obama supporters and Hillary backers can't stand the sight of the other person's candidate. And the list of big-named celebrities donating and supporting either candidate is more evidence of how out-of-hand this in-fighting has become.

Not that it matters much, but Clinton's got better celebrities.

You really think so? Clinton supporters are misinformed or willfully evil, in any case.

Is there any truth to the rumor that America Ferrera has gotten Chelsea Clinton an acting gig? Apparently, the show will be called, "Ugly Chelsea."

Both sides are now fighting over celebrity endorsements. Un-fucking-believable.

A question for these guys: what the hell is wrong with you people??? Seriously??? I'm a proud Obama supporter and Democrat, but even I think that these bitch-fights in internet chatrooms have become pathetic and shameful! NewsFlash, Democrats: this isn't 2004 when we were stuck with a limp dick in John Kerry. We have two accomplished and exciting candidates who will make history as either the first African-American or woman candidate nominated by a major political party to run for the highest office in the land, and either Obama and Clinton will be a better choice than the piss-poor, corrupt, and do-nothing Republican administration Americans have been subjected to for eight longs years! Who gives a damn who Padme (Portman) or Danny Ocean (Clooney) supports for the Democratic ticket? Be and act like fucking adults, for Christ sakes!

Here's another installment of Political Hypocrisy Theater

Remember when Hillary Clinton blasted rival Barack Obama for his condescending remarks about bitter working class Americans who cling to their guns and religion, saying "Pennsylvanians don't need a president who looks down on them," she said. "They need a president who stands up for them, who fights hard for your future, your jobs, your families."?
Well, it looks like the former First Lady has some explanin' to do.

In January 1995, as the Clintons were licking their wounds from the 1994 congressional elections, a debate emerged at a retreat at Camp David. Should the administration make overtures to working class white southerners who had all but forsaken the Democratic Party? The then-first lady took a less than inclusive approach.

"Screw 'em," she told her husband. "You don't owe them a thing, Bill. They're doing nothing for you; you don't have to do anything for them."

So what you were saying about that whole "I don't think [Obama] really gets it that people are looking for a president who stands up for you and not looks down on you," again, Mrs. Clinton?

A Special Comment about Senator Clinton

First, let me state that I have noting but respect for Senator Clinton. She is an amazing politician, and her uncanny ability to stand up and fight back against the overwhelming forces of the conservative wing of the GOP, makes me wish that more Democratic members of the party had your kind of willingness to fight back.

However, I feel that your conduct on the campaign trail has shown an ugly light on you and your husband's legacy; as merely a political force that will say and do anything and everything to gain political power and to further your own cause; or by nature, a typical politician. I understand fully - that this game of two sides flinging shit at one another and letting the public figure out who's shit stinks less - is the nature of American politics, but from the 3 a.m. phone call ad, to Geraldine Ferraro's comments; they are the kind of dirty kind of hit-below-the-belt tactics I expect a candidate from the Republican party to engage in, but not from a Democrat, and certainly not from you or your campaign team.Your campaign is also the kind of politics that not only see your candidacy as divisive, but also the kind of bitch-fighting American voters, such as myself, that have left us disillusioned with the political process.

We are near the end of the Democratic nomination process, and many reports are claiming that Senator Barack Obama will more-than-likely lead in states won, pledged delegates, and in popular vote. Reports have also said that you will need to overwhelmingly win in the last few contests to catch up with Obama. Senator, If you should lose to Obama in Pennsylvania, or if you should win by the slimmest of margins, then I feel that you need to accept defeat and admit that Obama has won the nomination, for the good of the party. I feel thee continuation of this race is only helping your opponent, John McCain, in the long term, and also damaging the Democratic Party's chances of taking back the White House after the catastrophic eight years this nation has had to endure under George W. Bush's incompetent and secretive administration.

Please, Senator Clinton, it is time that you stopped stubbornly drag this race on for longer than it should have out of ego and pride after Pennsylvania and step down, should you do poorly in this contest.
